Records suggest that the first to arrive were wealthy Alentejo residents, Lisbon summer vacationers, and neighboring Andalusians (Roque, 2021). During the latter half of the 20th century, Europe experienced a significant increase in tourism demand \"associated with the socioeconomic transformations during World War II that led to improvements in workers' living conditions and the establishment of vacation entitlements\" (Strazzera, 2015, p. 20). Nowadays, the region's markets are significantly more diverse, with a wide range of origins and a rapidly expanding growth rate. To fully grasp the development and progress of the Algarve as a sought-after location, it is imperative to have an all-encompassing comprehension of its tourists, their incentives for visiting, and the changes that have contributed to its popularity among both local and foreign visitors. This chapter explores the perspectives and outlooks of foreigners who have made the southernmost region of Portugal their home and how they perceive the area.
